As part of the NeuraViPeR project, we investigated the potential of cortical visual prostheses (VP) to provide visual cues to the blind. The research includes
1) low-power platforms and algorithms for scene processing and stimulation pattern generation
2) visual prostheses simulation to evaluate scene processing techniques. Also to spread awareness of the capabilities of VP and provide a platform for sighted people to experience VP.
3) creating a closed-loop system by utilising the recordings of the implant to optimize the stimulation patterns online.
VRphos_2 is based on the research from van der Grinten et al., providing a scientifically based experience of a cortical visual prosthesis system.
The App is available for Meta Quest VR as well as for Android phones (including cardboard VR).
